FAA LEVEL 3 AWARD IN FORESTRY FIRST AID (RQF)

Course title: Level 3 Award in Forestry First Aid (+F)

 

The qualification has been designed to provide the knowledge and competence for a learner to deal with emergency first aid situations in a forestry/agricultural environment.

 

The FAA Level 3 Award in Forestry First Aid (+F), is designed to accompany a suitable First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work qualification to enable a learner to meet the requirements of the Forestry Commission First Aid at Work Policy.

 

Learners must hold a First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work qualification before attending this course. If learners need to satisfy the requirements of the Forestry Commission, information regarding acceptable first aid qualifications can be found in The Forestry Commission First Aid at Work Policy for those that work on our land.

 

The course can also be ran along side either of the above courses.

 
Syllabus:

A range of subjects are covered including:

  • Emergency planning and remote medical assistance:
    • ​How to plan for a first aid emergency
    • Management of an unresponsive casualty when assistance is more than 30 minutes away
  • Catastrophic bleeding
    • Direct pressure
    • Haemostatic dressings
    • Tourniquets)
  • Crush injuries
  • Effects of extreme cold (hypothermia)
  • Lyme disease

 

Course duration: 2 hour bolt on course

 

Number of learners:   A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course and all candidates must be a minimum of 16 years of age to qualify.

 

Course assessment:   The qualification is assessed through practical demonstration and oral questioning. Scenarios will be set to enable a learner to demonstrate their knowledge and practical skills. During the practical assessment, the learner will be asked supporting questions by the Trainer/Assessor. The practical assessment is ongoing throughout the course but the Trainer/Assessor will make learners aware of when they are being assessed.

 

Certification:   Upon successful completion of the qualification assessment, Learners will be awarded the Ofqual regulated Level 3 Award in Supervising First Aid for Mental Health.
